Accessibility.
We want everyone to be able to use this site. If something is in your way, tell us and we'll fix it — or help you around it in the meantime.
Our commitment
Steven Lane & The Lane Associates is committed to making foreclosuresdmv.com accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. Our goal is to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA across every page we publish.
Accessibility is a moving target — we treat it as ongoing work, not a one-time checkbox. When new features go up, we test them with the same standards.
What we've built in
- Semantic HTML landmarks (
<header>,<nav>,<main>,<footer>) so screen readers can navigate the page structure directly. - A visible "Skip to main content" link that appears when you press Tab, so keyboard users can jump past the header.
- Full keyboard support for every interactive element — menus, dropdowns, forms, calculators, and the language switcher.
- Visible focus rings on every focusable element so keyboard users can see where they are on the page.
- Text alternatives for every meaningful image, and
aria-hiddenon decorative icons so screen readers skip them. - Form fields with associated labels, hint text, and inline error messages — no placeholder-only inputs.
- Color contrast tuned to meet or exceed WCAG AA (4.5:1 body, 3:1 large text and UI components).
- Support for browser text-resize up to 200% without content loss.
- Respect for the operating system's prefers-reduced-motion setting — animations and smooth scrolling turn off when you ask them to.
- Full bilingual parity (English & Español) with a language switcher on every page.
- Multiple contact paths — phone call, text, and web form — so you can reach us however works best.
Known limitations
- Third-party embedded content (Google Maps, YouTube video testimonials, the LeadConnector chat widget) is served by outside vendors. We choose vendors with accessibility commitments, but we can't guarantee every embedded experience meets WCAG AA end-to-end. If a specific embed isn't working for you, let us know and we'll help another way.
- Some longer PDFs linked from the site (state foreclosure statutes, court filings) come from government sources and may not be fully tagged. If you need one read to you or converted to accessible text, just ask — we'll get it to you.
Assistive technologies we test with
- VoiceOver on macOS and iOS (Safari)
- TalkBack on Android (Chrome)
- NVDA on Windows (Chrome, Firefox)
- Keyboard-only navigation on all supported browsers
- Browser zoom to 200%
